Orpheus in der Unterwelt plot
Music professor Orpheus is delighted when his wife Eurydike follows her lover Pluto to the underworld. Now he can devote himself undisturbed to love affairs with others. Jacques Offenbach, however, observes his escapades and presents Orpheus with a choice: either he should ask the gods to release Eurydike, or he should renounce his beloved.
