One of the Finest plot

Traffic cop Larry Hayes is the carer of four-year-old Mary Jane, the daughter of Gus Andrews, a criminal sent to prison because of Larry, and Nellie, a frequent visiting shop girl. After Larry reprimands Frances Hudson's driver for speeding, and later berates Frances for stopping her runaway horse, she convinces her influential father to transfer him. As a plainclothesman guarding the gifts at a wedding at the Hudson home, Larry courts Frances, but their mutual attraction resents Frances's lover Teddy.
