Once a Jolly Swagman plot
Young factory worker Bill Fox (Dirk Bogarde) quits his job one day to become a professional motorcycle racer. Life on the racetrack brings him many victories and rewards, but his self-centered behavior destroys his marriage. He leaves his long-suffering wife and begins an affair with another woman. It is ultimately a tragic event on the racetrack that brings the shocked Bill back to his feet...
