In 1916, an Irish ticket clerk, who has just gone to the bathroom, is taken hostage by the Republicans occupying the Dublin Post Office. While outside the soldier to whom she is betrothed leads the siege around the building, inside she outsmarts her hostages with 'the woman's weapons'.
