"It Will Pickle Your Fancy!"

After the death of their father, Eli and Nellie Pledge inherit a pickle factory in Colne, Lancashire in the north of England. The feuding siblings struggle to keep the dilapidated “Pledge's Purer Pickles” afloat, hampered by a lack of money, zero business acumen and having inherited a workforce that is mostly old and idle. While Nellie works hard to keep the business afloat, Eli prefers to indulge in the pleasures of beer, cigarettes, gambling and women.
