Ellen Grant is an efficient but naive secretary who is hired by Dick Richmond. On the surface, Dick seems like a reliable real estate salesman, but in reality he is the leader of a gang of criminals. It takes a long time for Ellen to figure out what's really going on regarding Dick's illegal activities. Until then, she often manages his affairs in a clumsy way. Ellen wants to marry Dick on the condition that he honestly runs his real estate firm and pays extra attention to the helpless homeless.
