Marquis d'Argenville is a big spendthrift who is restrained by his creditors and linked to the wealthy Gwendolyn Gruger. She is the daughter of noble-hungry parents. Marquis d'Argenville agrees to marry her. However, his heart is with Peggy Winton, who does her best to hide her disappointment. Marquis d'Argenville begins to question the price he must pay for true love.
