Elwin Kettle may be able to win a scholarship to the agricultural college. Alphonsus Mannering and Pete Crosby are the judges who must decide which of the two remaining entrants will receive the grant. They decide to stay at home with both candidates for a weekend, so that they can make a sound choice. Pa Kettle tries to fix up his dilapidated house beforehand, but a big storm destroys all the improvements again. The question now is whether Elwin will get his grant.
