Love on a Branch Line plot

Jasper Pye is a proper, sophisticated English civil servant, but his personal life with his girlfriend is dull and monotonous. Japser therefore wants to become a painter in Paris. However, he receives one more assignment from above that he will have to fulfill first and that assignment is not as simple as it seems.
