Struggling artist Roger Fox and his wife Jean live on a houseboat. His uncle Amos wants to give him 10,000 pounds if he can prove that he leads an exemplary life: that he is thrifty and productive and not indebted. However, he soon finds himself in a bind when he receives the lawyer who manages his uncle's affairs at home.
