Love in Exile plot

When a king unexpectedly abdicates, his subjects think he does so out of love for a woman. In reality, he has been pushed aside by greedy businessmen, who want to crown their own stooge. The king spends his exile on the Riviera, while the woman is now in the Netherlands. She is consumed with guilt because she thinks the monarch has abdicated for her sake.
