Le Bruit des Glaçons plot
Charles is a writer who has won the Prix Goncourt (the most prestigious French literature prize). But he hasn't written since. His wife left him and took their son with them. He drinks, and continues to drink, day and night, always carrying his ice bucket with him. One day, Charles is visited by the incarnation of his cancer. “Good day,” said the cancer. “I am your cancer. I didn't think it would be a bad idea to get to know each other once…” The cancer moves in with Charles. The only ones who can see the cancer, which remains invisible to everyone else, are the nanny Louisa and his son.
