Le Bassin de J.W. plot
The story begins with a performance of August Strindberg's play Inferno. Monteiro's alter ego Jo+M+o de Deus (John of God) plays Lucifer, his opponent Henrique plays the God who in Strindberg's story created humans to enjoy their wars and vanities. De Deus is also the director of the play and Henrique is an adventurous sailor who sees divinity itself represented in John Wayne's swaying of the hips. His fascination with this western hero leads him to the North Pole.
