L'Ora Legale plot
Elections are held in the Sicilian village of Pietrammare to appoint a new mayor. For years, the village has been run by the corrupt mayor Gaetano Patanè, who is again the favorite according to polls. The opponent is Pierpaolo Natoli, a fifty-year-old professor; new to politics and full of good intentions. The two heroes of the story, Salvo and Valentino, each support one of the candidates. They hope for benefits that can improve the situation of their liquor store. Many residents feel insecure in this permanently illegal atmosphere.
