In Old Kentucky plot

Horse trainer Steve Tapley finds himself between the two warring families Martingale and Shattuck. He sides with Nancy Martingale and her grandfather Ezra. The solution to the feud lies in a horse race between the two best horses of both families. Martingale's horse runs especially well in a muddy track, but it hasn't rained in ages.
