Automotive bigwig Jim Buchanan is engaged to Evelyn Fletcher, who no longer loves him, and has a board of directors that won't listen to him. While Jim ponders his problems on a park bench, he meets unemployed Joan Hawthorne. An excellent cook, Joan is seeking another partner in her plans to work as a couple for the duties of butler and cook for former bootlegger Mike Rossini. Jim is willing to help Joan, who does not know his true identity, and even takes cooking classes with his own butler.
