Hotel for Dogs plot

"No stray gets turned away."

When energetic siblings Andi and Bruce find themselves in a foster home with a strict 'no pets' policy, the wise-cracking Andi must quickly find a new home for their dog Friday. Despite warnings from the sympathetic social worker Bernie to stay out of trouble, the kids go on a search and discover a run-down hotel. They then make it a perfect home for Friday and a few more stray dogs, risking being separated if caught. In no time at all, the children have transformed the old hotel into something magical: a home for the dogs and for themselves.

This is a fun kids movie. Nicely exaggerated and sentimental as befits a children's film. We actually sat with the whole family (including the dogs) anxiously waiting to see how this film would end.

All those cute dogs are already a joy to watch (for example, I'm completely in love with that big dog that had to howl when the curtain was closed) but you also completely empathize with brother and sister. And what a nice happy end. This is really a must for the whole family!

Mme.

This isn't the best children's movie. Only watched because of the story that I liked and Emma Roberts, who does act reasonably well here. The story itself is also clearly geared towards children, but with some themes placed in it.

The dog hotel is quite nice, and decorated quite nicely. For example, the dinner scene of the dogs is quite a fun scene. Unfortunately, the film doesn't really captivate and the childish aspect of this remains a bit boring. The ending also feels a bit out of place.

A simple film with a nice idea, but could certainly have been better executed. If you can come up with something original, you have to go all out. And this movie only seems to go half way.

Review (and rating) of my seven-year-old son;

Awesome!!

Short but sweet. He would like to see him every week and smiles every time he sees him. Our eleven-year-old daughter doesn't think the film is such a success.
