“It must be some kind of hot tub time machine...”

Friendly. If the elaboration is good, these kind of lame films can produce entertaining nonsense. And Hot Tube Time Machine does a lot of good, with a script that works well and actors who fortunately don't take it all too seriously. Cusack is an odd casting choice and Corddry is annoying, but otherwise the actors do a good job. Compliments also for the wonderfully bad 80s atmosphere, and the contrasts between modern times and the 80s provide enough comic material. Fortunately it doesn't get too sentimental and the ending is well done.

Cusack in his umpteenth High Fidelity/Serendipity romantic blabla in a film about men in a midlife crisis… but not made for men in a midlife crisis, but for teenagers? Senior citizens? No idea, but apparently I wasn't the target audience because I thought it was a dime a dozen humor. Didn't surprise me once.

2 stars, but I don't really know what for. Especially to be able to give 1 star to movies that are really abominable. This one is not, but far from sufficient.
