Does it always have to be the same?

When I watch a dance movie, it's because I'm watching with my girlfriend. Usually I don't have a problem with that, but I'm slowly getting a bit tired of dance movies. Either it's a remake of an older dance movie, or it's not at all innovative. Honey 2 is also much of the same. The romance, two rival crews and a dance competition that of course ends in a draw between the two crews. What's new? In terms of dance, I've seen better.

Fortunately, the cast makes up for something. Good acting? No, but a fun, cheerful group. The HD crew and Mr. Koopar were quite nice. And there are some nice discs.

Tasty snack.

It's always a bit of a wait to see what happens next, but it's actually already good. Or bad, because after the first 5-10 minutes you can see what you're going to think of it. Katerina Graham is an actress I started to like after The Vampire Diaries and even though I like her less than Jessica Alba in part 1, she knows how to play the lead role quite well. In addition, we have Melissa Molinaro in some lovely outfits, dayum! Well, not everyone in the cast is equally nice and the serious (cliché) moments don't all work, but in the end it's just a light-hearted feel-good film with enough dance entertainment and matching music. In any case, for fans of the series America's Best Dance Crew it might be fun to watch.

This second part doesn't make a big impression, but I think I like it better than the first part. Honey 2 is a bit hipper and the dance routines are more fun (and maybe a bit more contemporary). It won't live up to the standards of, for example, the films from the Step Up franchise, but it is certainly fun to watch. I do think it's a shame that I hardly see any connection with the first Honey. Actually only that the dance center was founded by Honey Daniels, that's it.
