It's a shame that people keep falling into the same pitfalls in these kinds of films. Hitch started well. No annoying actors and at least a funny story. Will Smith is doing very well as a dating doctor. The fact that his relationship with Sara initially works out is a bonus, because for me the film revolves around Albert Brennaman. The fat, unattractive moron who wants nothing more than a relationship with a celebrity. That's actually a very nice Cinderella adaptation, which made me want to give it four stars. The run-up and execution is done in a fun and humorous way. That the same Sara throws a spanner in the works is still acceptable, but I was really not expecting her relationship problems. From the moment Hitch and Sara get into a fight, that storyline starts a downward spiral. Then you suddenly get those so-called hip dialogues and acted clashes. That speed dating scene was a complete disaster. Not to mention the happy ending. Exactly the reason why I avoid movies in this genre. It's these kind of soggy scenes that always make me itch. Nothing romantic about it.

In anticipation of temporarily less comfortable physical conditions (I won't go into detail) guilt-free indulged in my tendency to linger on the couch like a zombie after dinner. A tendency that arises because of very demanding activities during the day of course

I would almost say: I should do that more often! One episode of the British TV series Victoria, this movie, and the bulk of Millennium 2 in succession. Actually had a great time, although my respective appreciation of things shows a descending scale.

Hitch is another typical product, one in an endless series, the creation of which follows an iron pattern: at the base are a few nice ideas, which in the best case result in the thought halfway through: that could be quite nice, but they always manage to prevent that from happening, by driving the whole lot into the same wind tunnel, leaving a tasteless standard vehicle, with the same - apparently indispensable - moralistic and romantic clichés.

At least Will Smith has the right look for what he's doing, and Kevin James can handle it as well. Eva Mendes undoubtedly also has all kinds of qualities, but I wouldn't hire her for a comedy.

Pleasant Comedy/Romance film from director Andy Tennant.

The always charming Will Smith is perfect for the role of New York "date doctor" Alex "Hitch" Hitchens, who himself goes through life as a convinced bachelor, but knows better than anyone how to treat less fortunate men, such as the chubby Albert (Kevin James, in one of his few fun roles), can help a woman. When Hitch meets his great love, sewer journalist Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), he irrevocably goes for the ax and Hitch turns out to be just as bad as the rest.

Hitch has some useful tips for die-hard singles. This cliché-rich romantic comedy is propped up by the protagonists Will Smith and the ever-beautiful Eva Mendes. Will Smith does a great job as a consultant and charmer, but when he feels real love welling up, he can hardly handle it.

All in all, it was nice to have seen and especially because of Will Smith and Eva Mendes.
