Het Schnitzelparadijs plot
Het Schnitzelparadijs tells about the comic and romantic adventures of Nordip Doenia, a young Moroccan who is a good learner and therefore the promise of his community. However, Nordip does not want to meet these expectations at all and therefore takes a job as a dishwashing assistant in a Van Der Valk-like motel: "De Blauwe Gier". There he falls madly in love with Agnes, the niece of the owner. Agnes is under as much pressure from her parents as Nordip. It is the intention that Agnes will one day take over De Blauwe Gier, but deep in her heart she does not want it. The love between Nordip and Agnes is doomed to fail unless Nordip manages to convince Agnes to go against her parents' wishes.

Incredibly thin version of an age-old love story with a modern twist with two totally uninteresting, boring main characters.
Fortunately, things are quite brightened up by the funny supporting roles, and although these are all without exception cliché caricatures, I had to laugh about that.
Fortunately, the film doesn't last too long and the editing is nice and smooth so that it doesn't get boring. Het Schnitzelparadijs lacks any body, I was really waiting for something unexpected, original or daring to happen. But that was not in it, it all remains very well-behaved, sweet and predictable.
2.5* for the nice supporting roles and the raunchiest kitchen since Guesthouse Paradiso

Nicely shot film with some witty humor that is mainly based on pluralism. The story itself is somewhat standard due to stereotyped characters and clichéd angles. Still, the film is reasonable, but it is certainly not a Dutch high-flyer.
