An association of macrobiotic fanatics must elect a new president. The candidates are eccentric Esther (Lauren Bacall), a best-selling author, and nutritionist Isabella (Glenda Jackson). One is conservative and the other progressive. Amid the quest for power in this multi-million dollar healthy food business, independent candidate Dr. Gil (Paul Dooley), who is not completely incorruptible.
