A must see for Hoffman fans. Starts out as your average American tragicomedy, but gradually gets a "delicious twist", thanks to Hoffmans' "suffering". Small 4*

Questions for the possibly more observant viewer:
How did she end it? Is it intentionally not mentioned now?

I like to see Hoffman act, which makes it a pity that he has been gone for a while now. The lead role in this Love Liza seems made for him on paper and in reality it turns out to be the case.

Hoffman plays really fantastic the man, who after the suicide of his wife no longer sees fit. His body language is phenomenal and the way he throws himself into his distraction is very believable. The letter plays a major role in everything. By the way, I didn't want to know the message. I also couldn't quite place the behavior of Bates sometimes and the ending was a bit disappointing.

But other than that I don't have much to say about it. Hoffman keeps it interesting, the direction is good, the soundtrack even better and it doesn't get boring for a second. I'll have to go and see something with Hoffman again soon, it's still a class act.

4.0*
