Happy Burnout plot
Fussel has had his best years, but he still feels wholeheartedly a punk, womanizer, artist of life and conscientious objector. In any case, labor isn't really an issue and instead he prefers to drive various women, including his mistress, the clerk Mrs. Linde, with his boyish charm. Although she tolerates his laziness, an internal check comes to him. So Fussel sees only one solution: obtaining a certificate for incapacity for work as a result of a burnout.
