Graven plot

Every now and then a man feels the urge to drive to the sea and dig a well in the sand. Armed with his red cap, his yellowed undershirt and his spade, he goes to work frantically, but devotedly. Passers-by wonder about the crater that gets deeper and deeper. What drives him anyway? When will he stop?
