Renata and Carlo meet for the first time when they fight over a flat they both want to rent. The girl, modern and emancipated, accepts his proposal to share the apartment and marry him, provided she can leave him whenever she wants! However, Carlo really falls in love with her and so he is jealous and suspicious. The moment Renata realizes that he is spying on her, she asks to divorce him.
