Give a Girl a Break plot

Shortly before the premiere of a new Broadway show, the star leaves and director Ted Sturgis now has the difficult task of finding a successor at very short notice. After a selection, three more ladies are in the running: the elegant ballet dancer Joanna Moss, Sturgis' former dance partner and ex-mistress Madelyn Corlane and the inexperienced newcomer Suzy Doolittle. Of course, Sturgis has a preference for Madelyn, but in the end the part goes to Joanna. Then it turns out that Joanna is pregnant and that is the big chance for Suzy.
