Elvis is doing all kinds of jobs again, this time in Acapulco, and one of them is of course singing, which he does frequently. Weak story, as is often the case in Elvis vehicles, in which Elvis is also a lifeguard and former circus customer (with a fear of heights). The songs don't mean anything either. Nice use of locations, although often a stand-in was clearly used.

Indeed another cheerful film by Elvis Presley with a wafer-thin story. But yes, this film also looked visually beautiful (also thanks to Ursula Andress) and was full of cheerful songs. How the film will end is of course very predictable because films with Elvis Presley were simply full of clichés.

Elvis and co thought they could take their suitcase for this film. Not so. All his scenes were filmed in Hollywood. Often in front of a green screen to which they have pasted a background of Acapulco. A similar approach was also the case with GI Blues (set in Germany). Some believe that this way of working is also and especially related to the illegal residence status of manager Dries van Kuijk alias Colonel Parker, who was afraid of not being allowed into the USA afterwards.

Anyway, it's not a very bad film, but it's not Elvis's best either. The music may still be there, but you shouldn't think about his rock'n roll past. Here it's all about light family entertainment. Ursula Andress may also be there, although there is no real chemistry. In any case, according to experts, there was no off-screen affair.

Best song: the performance of Bossa Nova Baby.
