Footsteps in the Dark plot
Francis Warren (Errol Flynn) is a wealthy investment advisor who lives a secret double life. In addition to being a writer, he is also an amateur detective, with the ultimate goal that his mystery stories become better and better as a result. He often makes an appearance at the headquarters of the local police force. One day, he becomes involved in a real murder investigation. His wife Rita Warren (Brenda Marshall), meanwhile, does not understand why he is so little at home and suspects that he may be having an affair with another woman. She naturally begins to worry about his sudden disappearances and nighttime outings.
