Firmin plot
Ex-boxer Firmin Crets lives in a modest terraced house. Years ago, in 1979, he had a passionate love affair with Germaine. It ended abruptly when Freddy White, Firmin's major competitor, whispered in his ear during an important match that he had done it with Germaine. Hurt by Firmin's doubts about her allegiance, Germaine left Belgium. Firmin was left heartbroken and eventually went to work as a handyman in the boxing club of his former competitor White. But after almost thirty years, Germaine suddenly returns to her hometown.

Sympathetic comedy with a simple "Rocky" like story. Faded glory Firmin Crets trains a young Moroccan here, and I thought that was an interesting starting point. The two cultures are brought closer together and some social issues are addressed. And of course that hamster was very funny. I always like Chris Van den Durpel's characters

Firmin the boxer...
I don't think it's one of Chris Van Den Durpel's better characters anyway, but as a fan of his work I wanted to see this film.
The story of this film is rather thin and very predictable. Well, I didn't really expect anything different from this movie. It was mainly the humor that disappointed me a bit in this film... I try to remember a nice scene (I saw the film an hour and a half ago), but unfortunately I can't think of anything right away. Although I have to admit that Firmin's peculiar language, as well as his stupidity, is quite amusing at times. Chris Van Den Durpel is doing an excellent job.
And yes, we should take that hamster, right?
Not a high flyer, but certainly not bad.
