Arthur, a business lawyer, Kalle, a construction worker, and Yus, a physiotherapist, are three fathers whose daughters have fallen in love. However, from the point of view of the fathers, each of them is in love with the wrong man. The fathers do not consider the possible future sons-in-law to be model specimens. Arthur's daughter calls off her wedding to a lawyer to elope with a left-wing benefactor. Kalle's daughter has fallen for a nude photographer and his former classmate. And Yus' daughter secretly skips school to spend time with Andi, who has ties to the drug scene. The three fathers therefore decide to get rid of their daughters' suitors.

Every now and then I really enjoy a German film on Netflix. The films feel familiar but a bit more modern than the average ARD films and over the years I have developed quite a soft spot for the no-nonsense humor that characterizes Germans.
Es Ist zu Deinem Besten again shows a lot of pain between different generations. The dialogues are occasionally very nice and I really appreciate some crude humor here and there. Jürgen Vogel in particular, the actor known for Good bye Lenin and Die Welle shows here that he has the necessary comic talent.
It is also striking that actress Janina Uhse is in almost all German Netflix films. She made her breakthrough in Germany as a soap actress and does an excellent job here as a rebellious daughter who disagrees with her father, causing the painful scenes to follow each other in rapid succession.
Most Dutch viewers will now probably say that Germans have no humor or that every German film is the same. But sometimes it is also nice to watch an uncomplicated film, which relies on its freshness and not on its originality.
Certainly not a masterpiece and nowhere original, but familiar German comedy is very nice from time to time and it flies by.
