El Lazarillo de Tormes plot

Lázaro de Tormes is a boy of about eight years old who lives with his widowed mother in a boarding house in Salamanque, and is placed by her with successive tutors. The little boy has to defend himself against the world and the people in order to stay alive. It becomes a hard life school for him when he comes into contact with his masters. Their cruelty, their stinginess, and their baseness will lead the child to dissimulation, revenge, and theft. But one day he meets a blind girl and through her he learns a lot of wisdom and begins to see that he has gone astray. Lázaro is also luckier when he is afterwards placed with a new master, a gracious poor nobleman, the only superior who is kind to him.
