Based on a true story. Lieutenant Commander John Paul Steckler has to interrupt his honeymoon to explain to a commission of inquiry where his warship has gone. John has no idea, so psychiatrist Ensign Benson is assigned to the case. With the help of ex-sailor Stan, John eventually finds the barge underwater and the chairman of the committee seems to have something to do with the wreck.
