Die Vogelpredigt plot

A couple of actors from Bern go in search of their former director to persuade him to make a sequel to an earlier joint work. After a grueling journey full of obstacles through the wintry Apennines and bizarre trips in an erotic and a philosophical film, they finally find the director. He has now surrendered to asceticism and is more interested in ruin. He persuades the two to play a part in a Franciscan film. When they get lost in the Sibylline forests during the shooting, it turns out that the director has disappeared. They call and shout, but no one is there to help them.
