Die Goldenen Jahre plot
Alice and Peter exuberantly celebrate their retirement and look forward to a new phase of life. Then Alice finds out that her best friend Magalie, who dies unexpectedly, has had an affair in France for 15 years. The confrontation with the finiteness of life plunges Peter into an existential crisis: much to the chagrin of the epicurean Alice, he becomes a total health fanatic. When Peter then also invites Heinz, Magalie's widowed husband, on a cruise, which Alice hopes will give her marriage a new impetus, the harmonious retirement is over.
