Der Hauptmann von Köpenick plot

In this satire on German bureaucracy and militarism, ex-convict Wilhelm Voigt gets into trouble. He has lost his passport and is therefore not allowed to work, but in order to apply for a passport he must have a job. Due to this Prussian perfectionism, poor Wilhelm ends up in a vicious circle from which there is only one way to escape. He buys an old officer's uniform and takes the law into his own hands.
