"Many people write to God. Somebody is answering."
Tom is a petty criminal who is sentenced by the judge to work at the postal company for a year. He works in the 'Dead Letters' department where letters come in to God, Elvis and Santa Claus. When he answers one letter to God and notices how enthusiastic the response is, he and his colleagues decide to open more letters and fulfill their wishes, if possible.
