The life of 35-year-old Nora Schoonover has been turned upside down after her divorce from John. She moves from New York to Los Angeles to calm down. There, however, a surprise awaits her: Her 15-year-old son Stephen has secretly followed her, much to the dismay of his father John. In Los Angeles, Nora sees an interview on TV with a former classmate who is now a well-known athlete. To convince herself of her willpower and to start a new life for good, Nora decides to participate in the most difficult race in the world, the Hawaiian Triathlon: swim 5 kilometers, cycle 150 kilometers and this followed by a marathon. With her son as a coach and her new boyfriend Will, she starts training hard. Her dream is shattered when she has to miss the qualifying races due to a stupid accident. But Nora perseveres and will start anyway. She doesn't want to win the triathlon, but she does want to finish. Only then will Nora be ready for a new life with Will and her son.
