Catch-As Catch-Can plot
Roommates Thelma and ZaSu are telephone operators at the Empire Hotel. Thelma's boyfriend Harry handles the affairs of "Strangler" Sullivan, a wrestler who is homesick for Kansas. Although there is a big match that night, on which all of Harry's money is bet, the wrestler wants to go home now. When Sullivan stops at the operator's station to call home, he strikes up a conversation with ZaSu. They hit it off, and Harry realizes that Thelma's boyfriend might be the key to keeping Sullivan in town for the fight.
