Bettina Loved a Soldier plot
In 19th century France, wealthy, single young Bettina is pursued by dozens of young men, but she believes they are more interested in her money than in her and rejects them all. Young army lieutenant Jean Reynaud meets her and falls for her without knowing how rich she is. When he finally finds out, he is afraid that because of her high social status and his low status, he will be seen as just another gold-digger, and his sense of honor will not allow that, so he sends her away. However, she will not let herself be sent away so easily.
