Anthropology professor Bruce Patterson (Terry-Thomas) has a natural British charm that makes women lie at his feet. When his fiancée Helen Bushmill (Celeste Holm) is abroad for some time, Professor Patterson struggles to keep all the neighbors and students at bay. Helen also forgot to mention that she has a 17-year-old daughter, who suddenly shows up at her mother's door, unaware that her mother is engaged.
