Auf Wiedersehen Amerika plot

Genovefa, her husband Moshe and his best friend Isaac are Polish Jewish emigrants who have lived in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn for thirty years. Genovefa wants to return to Poland to see her beloved priest again and possibly buy an apartment there. Moshe goes with her and Isaac will take care of their cats. However, the police raid the illegal sewing workshop where Isaac works and he has to flee. The three of them go by boat to Poland. Due to technical problems, the boat runs aground in Germany and they are forced to celebrate Christmas in Berlin. Eventually they end up in Poland, where everything appears to have changed.
