Yet another disappointing film from director Cameron Crowe in a row. After Vanilla Sky, he hasn't made a good film anymore, except for documentaries. It's not the cast, which is more than decent with Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone in the lead roles. The script is the culprit here. Disjointed, boring and vague. The actors do their best, but with this material it simply can't work. The film lacks focus and repeatedly loses itself in gooey sentiment. For a romantic comedy there is also far too little to laugh. Quickly put on Almost Famous again to make this forget.

Not bad, but very messy and therefore sometimes a bit boring and too chaotic to stay really interesting. Especially because there is a lot in it, so that everything is only half covered. Conversely, there are plenty of fun moments in it, even towards the end, with which the film is fine to sit out. Cooper (as Djokovic's lookalike) is also very nice, especially with his calm demeanor. Emma Stone on the other hand is miscast as an air force pilot with a little too little serious appearance. She is, however, simply stunning, so every image with her in it is still worth a look. Also great atmosphere. 2.5*.

Well.

The summary already seemed a bit dubious, but she wanted to see a movie with Bradley Cooper. Eye candy, something like that. And then I thought that with McAdams and Cooper it might turn out to be something like that, but for me. There were no more expectations.

And even that doesn't work. Messy and muddled up to and including, and with a big famous cast none of the characters come out. Even Bill Murray has to believe it. And then that tinkering with that stupid hat, how do you make it up.
