A Royal Scandal plot
"Saucy! Naughty! Delicious!"
Catherine the Great of Russia (Tallulah Bankhead) falls in love with Alexei Chernoff (William Eythe), a handsome army officer. What she does not know, however, is that Lieutenant Alexei Chernoff is a rioter who has planned a coup d'état. When Catherine finds out the truth, she faces a difficult choice. However, she takes pity on Alexei and lets him escape, along with his true love, the beautiful Countess Anna Jaschikoff (Anne Baxter).
