Good movie. It's just such a shame that the short 'appearances' of many 'strange' characters often bring the film down. Also the moment when the doctor says that Betty is crazy and Zorg is being kicked out of the hospital was ridiculous. Perhaps that's how it was at the time (???), it only aroused disbelief and irritation for me.

Beatrice Dalle is convincing, the film has a nice pace and is full of beautiful scenes.

Mostly impressive and amusing, but still too much irritation to actually give an impressive rating.

Betty Blue is a film that slips by thanks to the excellent duo Anglade-Dalle despite its long running time of almost three hours. The film has an interesting plot and development in which the character development of Betty in particular stands out.

Suffering from manic-depressive disorder, Betty has a hard time coping with setbacks or disappointments. The further into the film, the stronger this psychological decay emerges. It starts innocently with some anger outbursts where some furniture or the paint / car has to believe. Zorg, on the other hand, sees in his Betty an unconditional love that blinds him naively to her problems. His later role in the film as bank robber was hard to place, but I felt sorry for him.

Also very nicely filmed and some nice functional nude scenes. The pace is slow, but it benefits the characters who are further deepened in the present. Because there is no such thing as the past. Yet Betty Blue is sizzling and intense with the beautiful supporting soundtrack.

French cult about a young fresh couple who experience their happiest moments together. Beineix shows this with idyllic images, sensuality and humor. It is beautiful to see and indeed honestly presented. You quickly understand that there is something wrong with Betty mentally; she sometimes falls prey to fits of rage and melancholy, over which Zorg cannot control. He also doesn't understand because they have a perfect relationship together, right? It was inevitable that something tragic would follow, something that would make the couple lose their grip on their happiness. Authors and filmmakers love and often exude the idea that happiness is transient, but Beineix makes it really special in its own way. Contrary to my expectations, this was very much to my liking. PS/ I saw the regular cinema version but maybe 3 hours is too much of a good thing.
