Zycie za Zycie. Maksymilian Kolbe plot
Film about the life of Maximilian Kolbe (Edward Zentara), who joined the Franciscan order at the age of sixteen and became a professor of church history. He founded the lay movement Militia Immaculatae in 1917 as a reaction to the too-heavy jubilee celebrations of the Freemasons. In 1941, the head of the family Franz Gajownicek had to report for transport to the Auschwitz concentration camp; Father Kolbe voluntarily takes his place. Immediately after arrival, he and fourteen other inmates start a hunger strike.
