The Professor and the Madman plot

"The incredible true story that defined our world."

'The Professor and the Madman' tells the story of the creation of the OED, better known as the Oxford English Dictionary. In 1857, Professor James Murray begins the composition of the OED and, as chairman of the committee, tries to reach as many people as possible who can contribute to the ambitious project. One of those people, William Chester Minor, makes more than 10,000 contributions, after which the committee wants to honor the man for his work. However, Murray finds out that William is now locked up in a mental asylum after committing a murder.

A great movie starring two of my favorite actors, Sean Penn and Mel Gibson. I'm glad that after this film I was able to fully confirm this and fully understood why I think these gentlemen thrive so well in their profession! My girlfriend was also impressed by this film and the story that was played in it.

An excellent story that is well interpreted by the two men and also the widow in the story, Eliza Merrett, played by Natalie Dormer is in good shape. Many will know her from the role she plays as the crafty Margaery Tyrell in the fantasy series Game of Thrones.

Highly recommended to anyone who likes these kinds of movies!

An 8 from us!

Overacting is also an art in a dictionary movie, kinda tiring this way. From Gibson, it's a kind of underacting. Do you think the film is in balance, but the opposite is the case. It seems that someone with a stopwatch scale has stuck the two men next to each other so that they get about exactly the same amount of film screen time, because that was simply stated in the contract.

For Mel they should have taken another actor, he's getting in the way a bit. There is no question of a fascinating confrontation between 2 acting guns, because they hardly get to see each other.

Furthermore, of course a fascinating story... in book form then... dictionaries we can't make it more fun.....

Actors go really well in this one. A bit too much drama, though. Also had a constant feeling that Mr. Muncie still had a character development or storyline in it, in my opinion it is teased but not executed.

Must have very strong acting and an interesting story. Costume drama with an emphasis on drama. Nice to see once.
