The Great Mr. Handel plot

In London in 1735, the great composer Georg Friedrich Handel, who had been living in England since 1712, experienced a setback in his hitherto celebrated career when his operas were no longer as successful as they had been. Even the Prince of Wales abandoned him and described his work as uninspired. Nevertheless, he kept trying but eventually went bankrupt. After an illness, he was asked to compose an oratorio on the life of Jesus. Day and night he wrote one of his most famous works, entitled "Messiah".
