Shooting Stars plot
In the 1990s, young LeBron James and his three best friends - Lil Dru, Willie McGee and Sian Cotton - are connected through basketball. When they play too well on their school team, the coach of the top basketball school in their district threatens to divorce them. The childhood friends subsequently decide to change schools so that they can remain a unit. They join the team at a white Catholic school, which the community takes as an insult. However, the boys are so committed to each other that they strive to become national champions with their new coach.

A lack of originality and acting talent sends this biopic about the famous basketball team, soon nicknamed 'Shooting Stars', into untimely obscurity. Coach Dru Joyce II [Wood Harris] built a youth team around his son Lil Dru [Caleb McLaughlin] with boys who became bosom friends: Willie McGee [Avery Serell Wills Jr.], Sian Cotton [Khalil Everage] and LeBron James [Marquis Mookie Cook]. Due to a combination of circumstances, they end up on St. Vincent-St. Mary's, a school of almost exclusively Catholic white boys, where Keith Dambrot [Dermot Mulroney] becomes their new coach and Romeo Travis [Scoot Henderson] completes the team. The reconstructions of matches provide beautiful moments and of course the necessary trick shots, but outside the hall it is a boring, predictable affair. Based on the book of the same name by LeBron James and Buzz Bissinger that clearly puts the team above the individual.
