Schweitzer plot
Dramatized and idealized reconstruction of Albert Schweitzer's work in Lambaréné, French Congo (now Gabon), where he ran a hospital from 1912 until his death in 1965. The film tells on the one hand his resistance to the local Oganga (medicine man) and on the other hand the fight against the prejudiced lenders, who do not understand that he can work under such conditions. However, he continues to refuse the construction of a modern hospital, otherwise the local population will lose faith in him. The film ends in 1952 with the award of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
